HB 156                                                                                                                        
The following, which was advanced to third reading from the April 6,                                                            
2011, calendar (page 783), was read the third time:                                                                             
                                                                                                                                
     HOUSE BILL NO. 156                                                                                                         
     "An Act relating to the chair of the Regulatory Commission of                                                              
     Alaska."                                                                                                                   
                                                                                                                                
Representative Kawasaki moved and asked unanimous consent that                                                                  
HB 156 be returned to second reading for the specific purpose of                                                                
considering Amendment No. 1.  There being no objection, it was so                                                               
ordered.                                                                                                                        
                                                                                                                                
                                                                                                                                
Amendment No. 1 was offered  by Representative Kawasaki:                                                                         
                                                                                                                                
Page 1, lines 4 - 8:                                                                                                            
 Delete "(b) The governor shall designate one member of the                                                                 
commission [SHALL ANNUALLY ELECT ONE OF ITS                                                                                     
MEMBERS] to serve as chair [FOR THE FOLLOWING FISCAL                                                                            
YEAR].  When a vacancy occurs in the office of chair, the governor                                                          
shall designate one of the members of the commission [SHALL                                                                 
ELECT ONE OF ITS MEMBERS] to serve the remaining term as                                                                        
chair."                                                                                                                         
 Insert "(b) The commission shall [ANNUALLY] elect one of its                                                                   
members to serve as chair [FOR THE FOLLOWING FISCAL                                                                             
YEAR].  When a vacancy occurs in the office of chair, the                                                                       
commission shall elect one of its members to serve the remaining term                                                           
as chair."                                                                                                                      
                                                                                                                                
Representative Kawasaki moved and asked unanimous consent that                                                                  
Amendment No. 1 be adopted.
